Vessel track for a period: where the vessel was on the dates you need, in one PDF

Category: GeneralUpdated October 22, 2026

A vessel track for a period is a PDF with the map, positions and port calls of a vessel for the dates you choose. You attach it to a dispute, a claim or an arbitration when you need to show where the vessel was on specific days. It costs $14.99 per document; PRO and ENTERPRISE plans include 2 documents a month. You order it on the vessel page, it arrives by email and stays in your orders.

What is inside the document

Section What it shows
Vessel and period name, IMO, MMSI, flag, type, period dates, build date and document number
Summary distance covered, average speed, number of positions, signal gaps over 6 hours
Track map a map with the coastline and sea names, the track line and direction arrows; sections without signal dashed, with their length; a mark and date at the start of each UTC day; first and last positions with their time; ports of call; a scale in nautical miles
Port calls port, arrival and departure
Signal gaps start, end and length of each gap over 6 hours
Track positions UTC time, latitude, longitude, speed, course, navigational status

The track is an extract of the AIS data the platform received. A signal gap does not mean the vessel was stationary or elsewhere: there is simply no data for that interval.

Which dates you can choose

  • The period is chosen in whole UTC days: "15 Oct to 21 Oct" means from 15 Oct 00:00 to 21 Oct 24:00 UTC.
  • One document covers up to 31 consecutive days. For a longer period, order several documents for adjoining dates.
  • The period starts no earlier than 15 July 2026, the first day we hold positions for. Positions are kept for 2 years, so you can choose any dates within two years before the order date. The earliest date is shown in the From field.
  • The dialog opens with the last 7 days, today included.
  • If the vessel has no positions for the chosen dates, the document is not sold: the dialog asks you to choose other dates.

How to order a track

  1. Open the vessel page and find the Documents for this vessel block. The Choose period button under the voyage history opens the same order.
  2. In the "Vessel track for a period" row, press PDF · $14.99. On PRO and ENTERPRISE, while plan documents remain this month, the button reads PDF · in your plan.
  3. In the dialog, pick the dates in the From and To fields. Below the fields you see how many days the period covers and where it starts and ends in UTC.
  4. Press Buy · $14.99 and pay. On a plan, press Get the PDF: the document is taken from the monthly quota.
  5. The PDF arrives by email and appears in the Documents for this vessel block under "Already yours" and in your orders.

See a sample before you buy

The track row has a Sample PDF link. It opens the same document you will get, with every section and a "SAMPLE" mark on each page. The sample is built for a fictional vessel, NORTHERN ALBATROSS: three days across the Black Sea to Istanbul with a signal gap mid-sea. It contains no real data of any vessel.
