Watching a vessel means keeping other companies' vessels on your list in the rynda.io account: every time you open the list, the vessels are checked against sanctions lists and port state control inspections, and on PRO you get an email if a vessel on the list is detained. Watching does not use your fleet limit.
How to start watching a vessel
- Open the "Screening" section in your account.
- Find the vessel by name or IMO — or open "Recently viewed", which lists the vessels you looked at recently.
- Click "Watch" on the vessel's row. The label changes to "Watching".
- The list lives in "Screening → Watching", on the "Vessels" tab. To remove a vessel, click the cross on its row.
What the list shows
- Vessel — name, IMO, type, deadweight and flag; the name opens the vessel page.
- Latest event — what changed since you started watching: the vessel or one of its companies was listed on a sanctions list, a new inspection or a detention appeared. If nothing changed, the row says "no changes".
- Since — the date the vessel joined the list.
- The meter "Watching 2 of 5" above the list — how much of your plan's limit is used.

When the list is full, the "Watch" button offers to free up a slot, and on FREE also to move to PRO.
The detention email
The "Detention email" row sits under the vessel list. If port state control detains a vessel on your list, you get an email — usually the day after the memorandum publishes the detention.
- On PRO and Enterprise the row has an "On" / "Off" switch. The email is on by default.
- On FREE the row shows an "Unlock with PRO" button with a PRO tag instead of the switch.
What the email contains:
- the vessel and its IMO, the detention date;
- the port, the country and the memorandum;
- whether the vessel was released, when, and for how many days it was held — or "release not recorded yet";
- the number of deficiencies and the official body that published the detention;
- an "Open the vessel" button — or "Open watch list" when there are several detentions.
Several detentions at once arrive in one email: up to 10 vessels as rows, the rest as an "and N more" line. The email covers recent detentions only — no older than 7 days. If you started watching a vessel after its detention was already known, no email is sent about it: the detention is already visible on the vessel page.
How to turn the email off
- Open "Screening → Watching", the "Vessels" tab.
- In the "Detention email" row, click the switch — the label changes to "Off".
- Click the switch again to turn the email back on.
The path to this setting is also written in the footer of every email.
Where to set up other alerts
Watching sends emails about detentions only. Alerts for port calls, AIS going dark and other events are set up in Fleet → Alerts: when you create a rule, pick the "My watchlist" target.
Watching makes sure you do not miss what happened to a vessel you work with or plan to work with.
