Vessel tracking: questions and answers
Is vessel tracking on Rynda free?
Yes. The live map, port pages and vessel pages are open without an account. A free account adds My Fleet with 3 vessels and port arrival and departure alerts. PRO costs $59 a month and covers 10 vessels with all 13 alert types.
How do I find a ship by its IMO number?
Type the seven-digit IMO number into the search on this page, on the home page or on the map. If the vessel has a live position, the map opens on it; otherwise its vessel page opens.
Can I get a message when a vessel arrives at a port?
Yes. Add the vessel to My Fleet and create a port arrival alert. The message comes to Telegram, to email and to the Events section. Port arrival and departure alerts are part of the free plan.
What happens when a vessel stops sending AIS?
The AIS lost alert reports a vessel in your fleet that has sent no signal for longer than the threshold you set. It is one of the 13 alert types on PRO and ENTERPRISE.
How far back does the history go?
7 days of voyages and port calls on the free plan, 21 days on PRO and the full archive on ENTERPRISE. The history archive of a single vessel is also sold as a PDF for $12.99.
Is there a mobile app?
Rynda works in the browser on a phone, a tablet and a desktop, with nothing to install. Alerts arrive in Telegram and by email.
How is Rynda different from MarineTraffic?
Both show vessels on a live AIS map. Rynda sends alerts to Telegram starting from the free plan and shows the owner, sanctions matches and PSC record on the vessel page. The MarineTraffic alternative page compares the two side by side.
