Family updates: port calls for a seafarer's family

Category: GeneralUpdated October 19, 2026

Family updates are notifications for a seafarer's family: up to three people get a short message when your vessel arrives in port and leaves port. You set them up in the Alerts section, by email or through Telegram.

What your family receives

  • only port arrivals and port departures of one vessel, the one you choose;
  • the time of the event in their time zone and a link to the vessel page;
  • no speed, ETA or other fleet alerts: those stay with you.

The email comes from Rynda and shows your profile name and the vessel name. Updates start only after the person confirms the subscription themselves.

How to add a family member by email

  1. Add your vessel to your fleet or watch list if it is not there yet.
  2. Open Alerts: the Family block sits below the alert delivery strip.
  3. Enter the address in Family member's email and press Invite.
  4. The person receives an invitation. They press Confirm subscription, then Confirm on the page that opens.

Until then the address is marked "Waiting for confirmation". An unconfirmed invitation expires after 14 days.

How to add a family member in Telegram

  1. In the Family block, press Telegram link.
  2. Press Copy link and send it to your family member.
  3. They open the link in Telegram and press Connect in the Rynda bot message.

Until then the row says "Link not opened yet". One link connects one chat.

How many people and which plan

  • Up to 3 recipients across email and Telegram.
  • All recipients follow one vessel. If you have several vessels, choose one in the Vessel field; when you switch vessels, recipients move to the new one.
  • Family updates come with paid plans. On the free plan the block shows a "Family updates come with a paid plan" card with a See plans button.
  • Emails to your family do not count toward your monthly alert email limit.

After the first recipient, the alert list gets the rules "Family: port arrival" and "Family: port departure" for the chosen vessel. They count toward your rule limit; if there is no room, the block tells you which rule could not be added.

How to unsubscribe or remove someone

  • You: press Remove on the recipient's row; their updates stop at once.
  • Email recipient: the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any update, then the Unsubscribe button on the page.
  • Telegram recipient: the /stop command in the bot chat. Blocking the bot also ends the subscription.

To add someone again after they unsubscribed, send a new invitation.
