17 35-P-18. IRAQ. Shatt al ' Arab/Arvand Rud. — Channel. Depths. Wrecks. (Taunton, 17-4031 (P)) 1 — An alternative channel is reported to exist in the entrance to Shatt al ' Arab/Arvand Rud, in the vicinity of a line joining the following approximate positions : 29 52,75 N — 48 40,85 E ; 29 51,77 N — 48 41,93 E ; 29 51,44 N — 48 42,45 E ; 29 51,04 N — 48 43,57 E ; 29 50,56 N — 48 45,84 E. 2 — There are numerous depths shoaler than charted along the Shatt al ' Arab/Arvand Rud between positions 29 49,60 N — 48 47,72 E and 30 34,90 N — 47 46,40 E. 3 — Numerous wrecks have been reported in the vicinity of Al Basrah between positions 30 29,20 N — 47 52,70 E and 30 34,70 N — 47 46,40 E. 4 — Mariners are advised to navigate with caution in the area.
