16 27-P-18. PANAMA . Panama Canal. Caribbean Sea Coast. Pacific Ocean Coast. — Channel limits. Buoyage. Obstructions. Dredged depths. Anchorage areas. Remplacé. 1 - The Panama Canal Expansion Project has now been completed and is due to be inaugurated on 26th June 2016. 2 - The channel limits in the northern and southern approaches to the Panama Canal have been widened and associated buoyage has been amended. The channel is marked by red and green lateral light-buoys. 3 - New locks have been established in the Miraflores (8 59,09 N - 79 35,33 W.) and Gatún (9 17,07 N - 79 54,86 W.) areas of the Panama Canal as part of the port developments. 4 - Dredging works have taken place within both entrances and as a result, the Pacific entrance has now been dredged to a minimum of 15.5m and the Atlantic Entrance to a minimum of 16.1m. 5 - Numerous anchorage areas have been amended in the northern and southern approaches. 6 - Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and consult the Panamanian Authorities for the latest information.
