15 05-P-06. PANAMA (Caribbean Sea Coast). Atlantic Entrance to the Panama Canal and Gatún Approach N. — Channel limits. Channel depths. Buoyage. Depths. (Taunton, 15-535 (P)) 1 — Recent Panama Canal Authority information has indicated changes to channel limits, associated buoyage, depths and beaching area in the vicinity of the Atlantic Entrance to the Panama Canal. 2 — The Atlantic Entrance channel is reported to be widened to 300 metres throughout and extended northwards. It is now entered in position 9 26,32 N — 79 55,15 W. Associated buoyage has been amended throughout. 3 — Controlling depths shown in the existing Panama Canal Channel Depths table are reported to be deeper than shown. 4 — Depths less than charted are reported to exist in the area as follows: 10,4 m : 9 20,52 N — 79 55,03 W ; 10,9 m : 9 20,43 N — 79 55,02 W ; 10,3 m : 9 20,66 N — 79 54,96 W ; 11,3 m : 9 20,60 N — 79 54,90 W ; 11,7 m : 9 20,49 N — 79 54,78 W ; 8,9 m : 9 22,16 N — 79 54,59 W ; 3,8 m : 9 22,27 N — 79 56,73 W. 5 — Beaching Area "B" in position 9 22,27 N — 79 56,73 W is reported to have been removed and works are in progress to create a new "Third Locks Approach" channel south eastwards from this position. (WGS84 Datum). 6 — Mariners should navigate with caution and contact the local authority for the latest information.
