Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel El‑Wazir has invited US companies to manage and operate major terminals at Alexandria’s El‑Max Port, Damietta Port and Adabiya Port, while jointly developing industrial and logistics zones in their hinterlands. The initiative aims to position Egypt as a regional manufacturing and logistics hub linking Asian and European trade flows via the Mediterranean and the Suez Canal.
Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel El‑Wazir, speaking in Cairo to a US business delegation, outlined a package of opportunities for American firms to participate in the management and operation of several strategic port assets, including a major container terminal at Alexandria’s El‑Max Port, a general cargo terminal at Damietta Port and the iron ore receiving terminal at Adabiya Port on the Red Sea. The proposal also covers development of a Global Logistics Zone at Salloum Port near the Libyan border and a separate logistics zone in Sadat Industrial City, aimed at strengthening integration between maritime gateways and inland industrial corridors.
