The Government of Canada has officially opened the CANXPORT export logistics facility at the Port of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, a new Ridley Island complex designed to handle at least 400,000 containers per year, with potential expansion to 750,000, strengthening Canada’s trade corridor to Asia.
Transport Canada has announced the grand opening of the CANXPORT export logistics facility, formerly known as the Ridley Island Export Logistics Project, at the Port of Prince Rupert in British Columbia. The facility, located on Ridley Island, is dedicated to handling containerised export cargo such as forestry products, agricultural goods and plastic resins. The federal government has provided nearly CAD 50 million through the National Trade Corridors Fund (NTCF) to support expansion of road and rail infrastructure, including three inbound and three outbound rail tracks dedicated to export transloading.
