In northern Vietnam, Hai Phong Port has reported cargo throughput exceeding its eight‑month target and announced plans to further upgrade and expand its infrastructure. The port authority aims to complete additional works at Berths No. 3 and 4 in the deep‑sea Lach Huyen terminal on schedule, modernize IT systems, strengthen data connectivity with customers and shipping lines, and broaden value‑added services such as VSSC, tug operations and logistics support. These initiatives are designed to reinforce Hai Phong’s role as a key gateway linking Vietnam to Asian and European trade lanes and to support growing export and import flows.
According to Vietnam’s official news agency, Hai Phong Port has already exceeded its planned throughput for the first eight months of the year, prompting the port authority to accelerate ongoing infrastructure projects. The authority stated that it intends to complete additional construction and equipment works at Berths No. 3 and 4 in the Lach Huyen deep‑sea terminal within the scheduled timeline. At the same time, Hai Phong Port plans to upgrade its information technology systems, enhance data connectivity with customers and shipping lines, and expand value‑added services, including VSSC terminal offerings, tugboat services and broader logistics support. These improvements are focused on increasing operational efficiency, reducing vessel turnaround times and improving the handling of both containerized and general cargo.
