La Spezia Container Terminal has ordered new electric ship-to-shore cranes and yard equipment for the expanding Ravano terminal, featuring remote operation, optical container identification and digital truck positioning. The investment is designed to deepen automation and digitalisation of port operations and improve efficiency and environmental performance.
At the Port of La Spezia, terminal operator La Spezia Container Terminal has placed an order for four new ship-to-shore cranes and 18 pieces of yard equipment as part of the Ravano terminal expansion programme. The new cranes will be fully electric and configured without onboard cabins, enabling remote operation from dedicated control centres. The equipment will incorporate automatic container identification using optical recognition, digital tracking of truck positions during loading and unloading, and vessel profile scanning to optimise stowage and crane moves.
