Asian Terminals Inc. and DP World have commissioned six new hybrid RTG cranes at Manila South Harbor, significantly expanding the Philippine port’s container‑handling capacity and supporting a broader modernization program. The investment, which includes upgraded quay and yard infrastructure, digital systems and a shift to electric cargo‑handling equipment, has already lifted annual throughput by nearly 40% while reducing emissions.
According to Philippine business media and regional news agencies, Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) together with DP World has brought six new hybrid rubber‑tired gantry (RTG) cranes into operation at Manila South Harbor, raising the terminal’s RTG fleet to 29 units and materially increasing its capacity to handle container volumes. The cranes, manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), can stack containers six high and are designed to improve operational efficiency as import and export flows through the capital region continue to grow.
