Busan Port Authority and China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan Port have agreed to strengthen cooperation across five key areas, including port automation, digital transformation and port call optimization based on shared vessel and port operations data, aiming to increase cargo volumes and improve efficiency and sustainability on major trade routes between Korea and China.
Busan Port Authority and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port have announced a detailed cooperation framework to advance smart and eco‑friendly port development. The two sides identified five key cooperation areas: expanding cargo volumes between the ports, linking vessel arrival and departure data with port operations data, port automation, digital transformation, and eco‑friendly port development. A flagship joint initiative will be Port Call Optimization (PCO), using vessel traffic information and port operational data to improve vessel punctuality and terminal operating efficiency. The partners intend to hold further working‑level consultations to refine data‑sharing mechanisms and the scope of application, including how to connect their existing digital port platforms.
