MSC is increasing FAK base rates and introducing a wide range of surcharges on container services from North Europe to North America from early September 2026, including substantial peak season, security and EU ETS-related charges.
According to industry reporting, MSC is implementing new, higher FAK base rates on its North Europe–North America services from the beginning of September 2026, alongside an expanded package of surcharges on container sailings from Antwerp to key US, Canadian and Mexican ports. New levels have been published for 20‑ and 40‑foot dry containers to New York, Houston, Montreal, Veracruz and other destinations, with increases of around USD 600–1,000 versus previous tariff levels on core lanes. These changes are corroborated by market commentaries from leading container shipping news outlets and rate analysts, as well as updates from major forwarders and NVOCCs revising their own tariff sheets for transatlantic traffic.
