Australia has adopted its first Maritime Emissions Reduction National Action Plan, placing digitalisation at the heart of efforts to cut shipping emissions. Australia has released its Maritime Emissions Reduction National Action Plan (MERNAP), which explicitly identifies digitalisation as a core energy-efficiency measure for the maritime sector. The plan includes the development of a national Maritime Single Window, an electronic portal that will consolidate port arrival, stay and departure data for ships calling at Australian ports, supported by total government investment of AUD 51.7 million.
