Japanese carrier Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has christened a new LNG carrier, Toho Emerald, at Samsung Heavy Industries’ yard in South Korea. The vessel, owned by joint venture T.K. LNG Shipping, is scheduled for delivery in October 2026 and forms part of a ten-ship LNG carrier programme K Line aims to complete by the end of Japan’s 2026 fiscal year.
Japan’s Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has formally named a new LNG carrier, Toho Emerald, during a ceremony held at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The vessel is owned by T.K. LNG Shipping, a joint venture between K Line and Toho Gas’s wholly owned subsidiary, Toho LNG Shipping. Industry reports state that the ship was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and is scheduled for delivery in October 2026, joining K Line’s expanding LNG fleet. Toho Emerald is one of ten new LNG carriers that K Line plans to have completed by the end of Japanese fiscal year 2026, which runs until March 31, 2027.
