Port authorities in Dunkirk have reportedly placed MSC in pole position to secure the concession for operating the port’s second container terminal on its western side, paving the way for an expansion of container infrastructure and capacity at one of Northern Europe’s key gateways.
Over the last 24 hours, French maritime and business media have reported that MSC is in prime position to win the operating concession for Dunkirk’s second container terminal. According to specialist outlet Le Marin, the global shipping group, via its terminal subsidiary, is expected to be awarded management of the new facility on the port’s western side, although the port authority itself has not yet formally commented on the outcome. The project involves expanding container‑handling infrastructure to increase the port’s ability to accommodate large container vessels and process growing cargo volumes in Northern Europe.
