Within the last 24 hours the dry bulk freight market has strengthened again, with the Baltic Dry Index and key sub‑indices pointing to higher charter rates across major vessel segments, underpinned by solid demand in both Atlantic and Pacific basins.

In the latest trading sessions, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) and its related dry bulk sub‑indices have moved higher, indicating firming spot and time‑charter rates for major vessel classes from capesize to panamax. Weekly market commentary from Baltic Exchange and trade press notes that although there was a modest correction earlier in the week, sentiment improved towards the close as demand for Atlantic voyages increased and Pacific rates appeared to find a floor. Regional data, including recent Korean and Asian indices, confirm that average daily earnings for capesize and panamax bulkers remain elevated versus pre‑pandemic levels, even if they have shown short‑term declines in some lanes.
