Tanker scarcity, Black Sea risks and sanctions-related rerouting continue to push the cost of moving Russian crude from western ports to India sharply higher.
Freight rates for Russian oil shipments from western ports to India remained at record highs in late October. Industry sources said the cost of transporting Urals crude to India was around $30 per barrel or more, compared with approximately $20 in September. A roughly 100,000-tonne Aframax voyage from Russia’s Baltic ports to western India cost about $23 million one way, up from $13 million–$16 million in September.
