Vietnam’s port sector is set for a significant upgrade as APM Terminals and local group Hateco invest more than US$1.7 billion in the new Lien Chieu container terminal in Da Nang. Designed for over 5.7 million TEU of annual capacity, the project aims to turn central Vietnam into a key node in Asian container trade.
Specialist logistics media report that APM Terminals, together with Vietnamese conglomerate Hateco, are developing the large‑scale Lien Chieu container terminal at Da Nang, on Vietnam’s central coast. The planned investment exceeds US$1.7 billion, with a target annual handling capacity of more than 5.7 million TEU, putting the facility in the league of major regional hubs. The project includes deep‑water berths capable of accommodating larger vessels, modern yard and warehousing facilities, and improved transport links connecting the port to inland regions and trans‑Vietnam corridors.
