Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) and DP World have commissioned six new hybrid rubber‑tired gantry (RTG) cranes at Manila South Harbor, raising terminal handling capacity to about 2 million TEU and advancing ongoing modernization efforts. The cranes, built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), feature automatic gantry steering, anti‑sway technology, truck detection, chassis positioning and emergency stop systems, cutting fuel use and emissions while improving efficiency and safety.

(ATI) and DP World have brought into service six hybrid RTG cranes at Manila South Harbor, significantly increasing the facility’s yard handling capacity and supporting the port’s role in Philippine international trade. The new cranes, manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), are equipped with automatic gantry steering, anti‑sway systems, automatic truck detection, precise chassis positioning and integrated emergency stop features, enabling faster and safer stacking operations up to six containers high. Their hybrid power configuration reduces fuel consumption and emissions compared with conventional diesel RTGs, aligning the investment with the terminal’s broader modernization and sustainability agenda.
