Global spot container rates increased for a second consecutive week, although gains were concentrated on selected trades. European, Mediterranean and Middle East services recorded the clearest increases, while US-bound lanes weakened.

The SCFI, covering spot rates on 15 services departing Shanghai, reached 3679.58 on 16.10.2026. The index gained 15.47 points week on week, marking its second consecutive increase. Market coverage linked the firmer tone to renewed Middle East risk and its potential effects on routing, insurance costs and schedule reliability.
